[SN ILZ255E] YAMAHA / BBP34 Vintage Sunburst (Weight: 4.05kg) [03]
The Yamaha BB series flagship model "BBP" electric bass gets a minor model change!
For 40 years, the Yamaha BB series has been highly acclaimed by many bassists for its constant pursuit of the sounds and features demanded by the music scene of the day. The new BB series has dramatically improved the sound of the body, achieving a sound that is both powerful and clearly contoured. A bass that continues to evolve while carrying on the tradition. Yamaha BB.
Inheriting Tradition
We have been constantly improving our basses to provide bassists with more than they could ever hope for, and the BB series has continued to evolve as a bass that caters to players who are in pursuit of their own personal sound. The new BB series continues the tradition of the BB, but continues to be a bass that will give you the sound and expression you are looking for in any situation.
Alder/Maple/Alder 3-Ply Body Construction
The new BB series has a 3-ply alder/maple/alder body construction. The hard maple sandwiched between the alder on both sides enriches the mid-range and makes the body sound more in tune with the band's sound. The use of maple for the body material enables direct sound transmission with the maple neck, reducing sound loss between the body and neck and ensuring that the strings receive the vibrations.
I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration)
I.R.A. (Initial response Acceleration) is a technology that accelerates the vibration of an instrument by applying appropriate vibration to the instrument after completion, thereby reducing the stress of paint, glue, etc. inherent in the instrument immediately after completion. Players know how important it is to "play in" an instrument. It is said that playing an instrument "makes it sound better". By applying I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) treatment, the bass guitar will be in a state close to the state where it has been played in. I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration) process brings the bass close to the state where it is played in, and brings out the ideal body sound.
Miter bolting system
In addition to the four screws that fix the neck vertically from the back of the body, two screws are added to fix the neck end at a 45-degree angle from the back of the body to create a miter bolting system. The body and neck are tightly adhered to each other, creating an intense sound that unites the body and neck. This method produces less energy loss from string vibrations than a normal bolt-on joint, resulting in rich sustain and overwhelming body resonance.
Newly developed pickups
The new BB is equipped with pickups developed uniquely for each model, which inherit the traditional BB sound, but with improved output gain in the mid and upper registers. The new BB has a clear sound with a clear and distinct contour. The pickups are suited to the unique character of each model, allowing for the creative and versatile expression demanded by the player.
Convertible bridge and saddle
String-through-body" construction is adopted, in which the strings are passed through from the backside of the body. Compared to the conventional method of passing strings vertically through the back of the body, the strings are passed through at a 45-degree angle, which transmits the energy of the string vibration to the body without any loss. In the general back-through method where the strings are passed through the body directly under the saddle, there is a large amount of vibration loss at the plate and saddle, making it difficult to transmit string vibrations efficiently and reliably.
The BB Pro series is equipped with a Vintage Plus bridge for sharp and clear sound. The brass saddles of the Vintage Plus bridge provide deep bass, while the steel plates provide a bright sound. Metal parts such as springs and screws are made of stainless steel for resistance to rust and corrosion. Furthermore, the different contact points of the semi-circular saddles respond to the player's various expressions, from crisp and clear sound to warmer sound.
* The hardware was changed from matte to glossy (chrome specification) with a minor model change in 2023, and two colors, VW (Vintage White) and MLB (Moonlight Blue), were added as color variations.
