Yamaha's BB Series flagship electric bass, the "BBP," has received a minor update!
As Yamaha’s iconic bass series, the BB has been a constant presence in the music scene for over 40 years. Now, the Japanese-made flagship “BBP (BB Pro)” series—the pinnacle of the lineup—has been updated with practical refinements.
In this update, in line with the 2023 specification changes, the hardware finish has been refreshed from the traditional matte finish to a glossy "Chrome" finish. Furthermore, two new color variations—the elegant "VW (Vintage White)" and the deep "MLB (Moonlight Blue)"—have been added, refining the sophisticated look befitting a flagship model.
The body, the core of the instrument’s sound, features a three-ply alder/maple/alder construction. The hard maple center layer brings out rich midrange tones, producing a superb resonance that blends exquisitely with band ensembles.Furthermore, Yamaha’s proprietary “I.R.A. (Initial Response Acceleration)” treatment is applied immediately after completion to impart the appropriate vibration to the instrument, reducing stress from the finish and adhesives. From the moment you pick it up, you’ll experience the superb tone and response of a well-played vintage instrument.
For the neck joint, in addition to standard vertical bolts, we’ve adopted the “Miter Bolting System,” which securely fastens the neck end at a 45-degree angle. Combined with the “Convertible-Type Bridge & Saddle”—which routes the strings at a 45-degree angle from the bottom of the body—this system thoroughly eliminates energy loss from string vibration, delivering overwhelming sustain and tight bass tones.Be sure to experience the clear, well-defined, and powerful modern BB tone delivered by our newly developed original pickups.
