[SN 91006019] USED GIBSON CUSTOM / ES-5 Switchmaster [03]
Furthermore, in 1957, the pickups were changed to PAF humbuckers, and production ceased in 1962.
The model we have just received is a 1996 reissue of the "ES-5 Switchmaster" featuring three volume and three tone controls, equipped with humbucker pickups!
* We determined it to be a 1996 model based on the serial number and other specifications. Since it was manufactured in 1996, no certificate of authenticity was included at that time, so we identified it as a Custom Shop model based on the label inside the body.
Maple is used for the top, sides, back, and neck, while the fingerboard is made of rosewood.
As the ES-5 was originally crafted as a top-of-the-line model, its beautiful flame grain adds an even more distinctive character.
Gold hardware, including block inlays, multi-layer binding, and a custom tailpiece engraved with "ES-5," adds a touch of luxury to the design.
This guitar is crafted to deliver a rich, resonant tone from its large body, offering a sweet, full-bodied sound that is truly exceptional!
It is equipped with three "57 Classic" pickups, believed to be the original models.
It reproduces the specifications from 1957 onward, featuring humbuckers mounted in each position—a hallmark of the "ES-5 Switchmaster"—along with individual volume and tone knobs for each pickup, and a 4-way selector switch (center/front/rear/all pickups).
This configuration allows for even finer tone shaping than the 2-volume, 2-tone setup with a 3-way switch found on many other models.
Regarding the condition, there are scratches and scuff marks visible throughout the body. There is also a dent on the headstock.
While there are signs of use, it is in quite good condition for its age and plays well.
This is a rare reissue of the "ES-5 Switchmaster," which was originally produced as a top-of-the-line model!
Please take this opportunity to consider it!!
