[SN 151] USED Gibson Custom Shop / Tak Matsumoto Firebird [03]
We’ve just received a used 2015 Gibson Custom Shop Tak Matsumoto Firebird!
Based on a Firebird V modified to the two-humbucker configuration favored by B'z's Tak Matsumoto, this project began in 2012 when Tak approached the Gibson Custom Shop with a request: "Can you create a model that retains the original design as much as possible while adjusting the body balance and playability to my preferences?" This marked the start of a project to create a completely new Firebird design worthy of being called a new "TAK model."
After approximately three years of refining prototypes, the guitar was finally released in 2015.
Given that it was a limited production run, this is a rare and valuable instrument even on the used market!
The body features a beautiful figured maple top proposed by Gibson, paired with a three-piece genuine mahogany back and sides.
The neck is made of a single piece of genuine mahogany, and the fingerboard is crafted from Indian rosewood.
The neck shape adopts the “TAK DC profile,” featuring the slimmer profile familiar from Mr. Matsumoto’s signature models.
It faithfully realizes Mr. Matsumoto’s vision of a “Les Paul headstock combined with the playability, control, and layout of a DC-style neck.”
The finish color is "Trans Black Burst."
This dark, luxurious color scheme beautifully highlights the figure maple grain, resulting in a stylish finish.
Beautiful abalone inlays are used on the fingerboard, creating a look that perfectly complements the finish.
The pickups feature the original "Burst Bucker 2 & 3."
This is another carefully selected choice, delivering a compelling drive sound with excellent clarity from the midrange to the highs.
The controls are configured with individual pickup volume knobs and a master tone control, similar to the Tak DC model.
Regarding the condition, there are some areas on the body and headstock where scuff marks, minor scratches, and fine dents are visible.
While there are signs of use in some areas, the guitar is generally in good condition.
This is a meticulously crafted Firebird that Mr. Matsumoto and Gibson spent approximately three years conceptualizing and building!
As this is a rare, limited-production model, please consider taking advantage of this opportunity!
