[SN V114477] USED FENDER USA / American Vintage 1962 Jazz Bass 3-Tone Sunburst [03]

[SN V114477] USED FENDER USA / American Vintage 1962 Jazz Bass 3-Tone Sunburst [03]

A 1998 American Vintage model with cool, natural wear from years of playing has just arrived in our used inventory!

Need we say more about the original electric bass, "Fender"?
This new arrival is from Fender’s American Vintage series, which was first released in 1982. It’s a hugely popular model that recreates the look of a 1962 vintage bass. The current lineup has since been upgraded to the American Vintage II series.

Based on the serial number, this particular instrument was manufactured in 1998.
It features traditional materials: an alder body, a slab-jointed rosewood fingerboard, and a maple neck. The fingerboard edges are nicely rounded, providing a comfortable feel when gripping the neck.

The sound is characterized by a vintage-like dryness overall, yet it features a sweet character that captivates with its rich, mellow mids. The thick, full-bodied tone—so typical of Fender—is sure to be familiar to everyone.
Additionally, the 4th string tuner has been replaced with a Hipshot Extender, allowing for an instant switch to Drop D tuning. This practical modification perfectly complements the well-played look of the guitar.

Overall, there are signs of heavy use, with discoloration and rust on the parts, as well as numerous scratches and dents throughout. There are signs of wear throughout, such as sticker residue on the back of the body and buffing marks on the pickguard that appear to be from sanding.
Additionally, the finish has deteriorated over a wide area. This does not appear to be the result of over-lacquering or refinishing.

The frets are slightly low and the neck has a slight bow, but this does not significantly affect playability at this time.
The truss rod appears to be slightly tightened, but there is still plenty of room to adjust it in either direction, providing ample adjustment range.

We have repaired the screw holes on the neck joint.

Not only does it have a commanding presence, but it’s also a guitar ready to hit the stage right away! Please give it a try!
