[SN 41] USED VIRTUES / Lander CULT Limited Edition No. 1 Fuzz [10]
A CULT Special Edition Fuzz Face-style pedal
Virtues is a Tokyo-based handmade pedal brand that has been garnering significant attention in recent years.
In addition to Virtues’ own Fuzz Face, we used a 1968 Arbiter Fuzz Face owned by CULT as a reference to create a fuzz sound that is thicker and rougher than a standard Lander, yet retains the distinct separation of an overdrive.
The controls are exactly the same as on the standard Lander: Volume (top left) adjusts the volume, Pre Gain (center) adjusts the input sensitivity, and Gain (top right) adjusts the amount of distortion.
While the standard Lander uses aluminum sheet metal for its enclosure, the CULT Limited series uses 2.0mm-thick steel plate.
As a result, the total weight is more than double that of the standard Lander, and this difference in the chassis also affects the tone. In particular, the fullness of the low end and the density of the midrange bring it closer to the original Fuzz Face, resulting in a vintage-like thickness that makes it hard to believe this is a modern fuzz pedal. It is a unit that will fully stimulate the creativity of today’s guitarists.
There are signs of wear, such as chipped paint and tarnished metal, but it functions perfectly.
