[SN 420018] USED Martin / D-28 [Vintage/1980] Martin Acoustic Guitar D28 [08]
The Martin D-28, one of the company’s signature models.
The D-28 was first introduced in 1931 with a 12th-fret joint, followed by a 14th-fret joint version in 1934.
The all-solid dreadnought body features a spruce top and rosewood sides and back, with an ebony bridge and non-scalloped X-bracing.
The mahogany neck, with a nut width of approximately 42.5 mm and a 25.4-inch long scale, features an ebony fingerboard.
The sturdy, V-shaped neck is fitted with a square rod.
Between 1978 and 1979, the tuners were changed from Grover Rotomatic to Schaller; this instrument is equipped with Schaller tuners bearing the Martin logo.
Serviced at a renowned guitar workshop upon arrival!
The pickguard, back bracing, and bridge have been re-glued; a new veneer was installed on the gouged bridge plate; the nut and saddle were replaced (with cowbone); the neck angle was adjusted; the fingerboard was repaired; and the frets were replaced (with Jescar Vintage).
Since there were cracks on both sides of the nut, it has been glued, reshaped, leveled, stained, refinished, and polished.
* The edge of the pickguard (near the tip of the fingerboard) is slightly warped, so that section could not be fully re-glued.
There is a repair mark from a crack on the top (near the outer edge of the pickguard; the crack has been stopped).
There is a touch-up mark from an impact near the lower right of the bridge on the top.
There are fine weather checks all over the back of the body and neck.
The back of the neck has a glossy sheen from playing and may have been over-lacquered in the past.
Overall, there are many dents, scuffs, scratches, repair marks, and signs of aging, but playability is excellent!
It has a light, loud tone, yet the solid, well-defined low end really comes through.
It offers rich sustain and resonant harmonics!
Condition Grade: B: Shows significant wear and signs of use, but is perfectly functional for normal use
Serial: 420018
Accessories: Martin Hard Case
* The tape securing the lid inside the case is missing. Additionally, the flap on the pocket inside the case is damaged.
