The L Series is renowned worldwide as Yamaha’s pinnacle of acoustic guitars.
Even 40 years after its release, the "L" continues to be cherished by countless artists as a legendary instrument. What is the source of its enduring value? It is none other than its consistent ability to deliver the sound and playability demanded by each era at the highest level. It ushered in a new era of acoustic guitars in Japan, has continued to evolve with the times, and has always responded to the needs of its players. That is the L Series.
Featuring an original jumbo body and an all-solid construction, it features Engelmann spruce for the top and rosewood for the sides and back.
The top wood has been treated with our proprietary “A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement)” process. This achieves a rich tone reminiscent of a guitar that has been played for many years.
The bracing uses the same non-scalloped X-bracing as before, and by adding side braces that connect the top and back braces, it more reliably transmits string vibrations to the back.
The neck features a 5-piece mahogany and rosewood construction to ensure strength against warping and twisting, and the headstock is reinforced with a rosewood veneer and volute shaping on the back.
The neck shape is 1 mm thinner at the 10th fret than the previous model, improving playability in the higher positions. Furthermore, by rounding the edges of the fingerboard, it achieves a smooth playing feel that fits comfortably in the hand.
The string action and string spacing have also been adjusted: the 6th string is set slightly lower and the 1st string slightly higher than before, and the string spacing has been widened by 0.3 mm.
The neck joint design used in the Custom models has been adopted. The depth of the dovetail joint has been increased by 4mm to achieve rich sustain.
To maximize the guitar’s natural resonance and the character of the wood, the entire body is finished with a stone-powder-sealed lacquer coating.
The Japanese-made L Series offers excellent response and dynamics, allowing you to experience rich harmonics—be sure to try it out.
