Rickenbacker Model 360 Fierglo -1988-

We’ve just received a 1988 Rickenbacker 360 Fierglo!

Rickenbacker is famous as the brand that created the world’s first electric guitar.
Founded on October 15, 1931, as Low-Pat-In Corporation by three key figures—George Beecham, Paul Barsh, and Adolph Rickenbacker—Rickenbacker began manufacturing the world’s first electric guitar, commonly known as the “Flying Pan” and equipped with a horseshoe pickup, starting in August of the following year.
While primarily manufacturing and selling Hawaiian guitars and electric Spanish guitars, the company underwent changes such as interactions with professional guitarists, changes to its company and model names, and relocations of its headquarters. By the late 1950s, it had produced numerous models, including the 360/375, Combo 600, 800/950/1000, and Bass 4000—all of which have become iconic Rickenbacker models today. In the mid-1960s, The Beatles used Rickenbacker guitars, further boosting the brand’s popularity, and they continue to be cherished by various musicians and users today.
In the mid-1960s, The Beatles used Rickenbacker guitars, further boosting their popularity, and they are still cherished by various musicians and users today.

This instrument is the Model 360, a semi-acoustic electric guitar introduced to the market in 1958. The body features a carved maple top and sides with a maple back, while the neck is made of maple with a rosewood fingerboard, featuring a nut centered between the two layers. The corners of the body top are rounded, and binding is applied to the soundhole and body back.

The headstock features a truss rod cover bearing the Rickenbacker logo and is equipped with Schaller tuners.
It is equipped with two Toaster pickups, Rickenbacker’s signature 2-Vol/2-Tone/3-Way selector, a 5th control, and two output jacks: Standard and Rick-o-Sound.

The pot dates—"1378819" (x3), "XX78819," and "13788XX"—indicate that CTS pots manufactured in 1988 were used, and the serial number confirms that the guitar was manufactured in October 1988.

The guitar is finished in vibrant Fierglo, which beautifully highlights the distinctive grain of the maple.

While there are some scratches, dents, and buckle marks from use, there is no significant peeling of the finish or cracks in the wood. Approximately 70% of the frets remain, and the truss rod turns smoothly through 40 degrees, confirming that the guitar is still in good playing condition.
