[SN 038480] USED YAMAHA / 1981 SG-1000 Red Sunburst [04]
The SG-1000 debuted in 1976, shortly after Yamaha’s legendary SG-2000.
Unlike the SG-2000’s through-neck design, the SG-1000 features a set-neck construction and stands alongside the SG-2000 as one of the brand’s iconic models.
The body features a maple top and mahogany back, while the neck is a 3-piece maple/mahogany construction with an ebony fingerboard.
It is equipped with the original "OPG-1" humbucking pickup.
It also features the "Bi-Sound System," which allows for coil tapping by pressing the tone knob, and the "Direct Circuit," which delivers a bright sound without the high frequencies being grounded when the volume and tone are set to 10.
The tuners (Gotoh) and strap pins (locking mechanism missing) have been replaced.
Unfortunately, the pickguard and the metal plate on the front tone knob are missing.
The headstock top and back, neck, and body back show signs of paint clouding, and overall, there are scratches, dents, and other visible signs of heavy use.
Additionally, there is a small scorch mark next to the strap pin on the neck side.
The neck is in good condition; the truss rod is slightly tightened but still has room to be adjusted further.
The frets have about 70-60% of their original depth remaining, and there is currently no muting or buzzing, so it is playable as is.
Occasionally, when switching the rear pickup back from tapped to humbucker mode, it may not return properly; however, since the pot used is original and there is no issue with the tapping function itself, it will be delivered as is.
A non-original soft case is included.
