[SN 0007814] USED Tokai / 1980 LS-120 Reborn Old Cherry Sunburst [05]
Its exceptional craftsmanship combined with its affordable price point at the time captivated many guitarists.
The existence of these models later served as the catalyst for the birth of the O brand, which was developed by the original manufacturer as a domestic LP.
The model we’ve received is the top-of-the-line model from the LS series, manufactured in 1980.
The headstock decal has been updated to the "Reborn Old" version, and the truss rod cover also features the updated design.
The "120" is stamped on the fingerboard end, confirming that this is undoubtedly an LS-120.
The body top features a luxurious use of genuine figured maple, rather than film or laminate.
It comes standard with Dimarzio PAF pickups. The use of "Double Cream" pickups suggests an attempt to recreate a specification that is rare even among original 1959 Les Pauls.
Additionally, the electronics—including the pots—use the original circuit board type, and the major components have been kept true to the original.
The tuners have been replaced with non-original ones bearing the TOKAI stamp.
The included hard case is not the original, but it is an older TOKAI-made hard case.
Over 45 years have passed since its creation, and it bears the marks of a long and distinguished career—scratches, dents, and sun-faded finish—giving it a truly dignified presence!
After arrival, it was inspected and fully adjusted by our specialist repair team; it is in excellent playing condition and ready for active use.
* There was a partial chip in the position mark at the 21st fret, but our repair team has filled the hole to restore it.
The 120 is the pinnacle of the LS series. While prices for this series have skyrocketed in recent years, the 120 stands in a class of its own.
Please consider purchasing it as soon as possible.
