[SN R97570] USED FENDER CUSTOM SHOP / Vintage Custom 1968 Telecaster Thinline Aged Natural [06]
[SN R97570] USED FENDER CUSTOM SHOP / Vintage Custom 1968 Telecaster Thinline Aged Natural [06]
Featuring a hollow-body construction made of "Fiji Mahogany" with a "WLS Undercoat" base and a NOS-finished Aged Natural finish, this guitar boasts a 60s Oval "C" shape "Rift-sawn Maple" neck and a "Round-Lam Maple" fingerboard.
The fingerboard features a 7.25"-9.5" compound radius and medium vintage frets. The classic C-shape, which is easy to play, combined with a fingerboard radius that flattens toward the higher frets, delivers a smooth playing feel despite its vintage-inspired specifications.
Equipped with a "Hand-Wound 67 TELE" pickup, it delivers a clear, well-defined tone. The controls feature a standard 3-way switch, 1 Volume, and 1 Tone knob, allowing you to shape the sound exactly as you envision without any confusion.
In keeping with the era, the tuners are F-keys, and the bridge saddles are grooved stainless steel, with the stainless saddles providing a crisp attack.
The combination of a mahogany hollow body and specifications reminiscent of a circa-1968 Telecaster—known for its crisp attack—results in a sound that offers excellent separation while still providing a pleasant sense of spaciousness.
"WLS Undercoat" refers to the base layer created by a polyurethane finish, designed to recreate the six-skin finish popular from around 1968. Naturally, the finish meets Custom Shop quality standards, so it is by no means thick—it is thin enough to reveal the mahogany grain. Another subtle detail is the use of a Medium Tint finish exclusively on the headstock top, which replicates the color fading that occurred when only the headstock was originally lacquered.Furthermore, although this is a Thinline model, the headstock logo reads "TELECASTER," a specification faithful to the early models from around 1968, resulting in a finish that will satisfy even the most discerning enthusiasts.
As for condition, there are no major, noticeable scratches; while there are a few minor dents and scuffs, the overall condition is good. It comes with a certificate of authenticity and a spec sheet, as well as a bridge cover and a strap.
It has been cleaned and fully adjusted since arrival, so it is ready to play without any issues.
