[SN 88104] USED GIBSON CUSTOM / Historic Collection 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue Vintage Cherry Sunburst [06]
[SN 88104] USED GIBSON CUSTOM / Historic Collection 1958 Les Paul Standard Reissue Vintage Cherry Sunburst [06]
This is a 2018 model from the Historic Collection, which made a comeback after being discontinued following the introduction of the True Historic line.
The wood configuration features a thick C-shaped mahogany neck, a rosewood fingerboard, a two-piece maple top, and a one-piece mahogany back. As a '58 reissue, the top is essentially plain, but depending on the angle, it reveals subtle flame patterns, giving it a rich, expressive appearance.
Hydroglu (animal glue) is used for the wood joints. It is also very lightweight, weighing just 3.83 kg. The 58 Reissue features narrower frets to recreate a playing feel close to that of a vintage guitar.
The pickups feature Alnico 3 Custom Buckers and Bumblebee capacitors, delivering a rich, warm midrange and clear, sparkling highs rich in harmonics.
The pursuit of a vintage feel through True Historic parts, combined with the VOS finish and hardware, gives it a distinguished appearance.
There are some light playing scratches, scuffs, and small dents, and some reddish color transfer from the aniline dye can be seen on the binding, but the overall condition is relatively good.
The neck is generally in good condition with plenty of adjustment range on both sides of the truss rod. There are no signs of modifications to the electronics or hardware, making this a reliable instrument that will serve you well for years to come.
