[SN 90511398] USED GIBSON USA / Les Paul Custom Wine Red 1991 [10]

[SN 90511398] USED GIBSON USA / Les Paul Custom Wine Red 1991 [10]

A 1991 wine-red Custom has arrived!

Among the various Custom models—such as the '54, '57, and '68—this is not a vintage-style model but a modern-spec Les Paul Custom. Unlike the '54 and '57 models, the body features a classic maple top and mahogany back. The neck is, of course, mahogany, and the fingerboard is now made of ebony! It is equipped with two so-called "stamped humbuckers," with the patent numbers engraved on the back. The DC resistance values are approximately 8.1k on the neck side and 13.5k on the bridge side, so it is likely a combination of the '490R' and '498T' pickups.

The pickguard has fine picking scratches all over it. The body features authentic weather checking throughout, giving it a fantastic vintage look. There are dents of varying sizes under the bridge, and the outer edges of the body are dotted with scuff marks and small dents. There is a linear scratch on the lower right side of the body, and yellowing from a stand is visible on both sides of the strap pins at the end. The back of the body has buckle marks and dents of various sizes. On the back of the neck, there is clear coat peeling at the low positions, and the clear coat on both sides has deteriorated overall, though this does not significantly affect playability. There is a large sticker mark on the headstock top, along with discoloration from color transfer and clear coat peeling caused by removal. Additionally, the clear coat on the veneer section has weather checking that resembles a pattern, which is a common sign of aging for instruments of this era. The plating on the hardware has deteriorated, and there is plating peeling on the 6th string side of the bridge. The tip of the truss rod cover is chipped.

The neck is in good condition, and the truss rod can be adjusted both tighter and looser. There are no noticeable string marks on the frets, and they have about 60-70% of their original material remaining. The current string action is set to approximately 2.0 mm on the 6th string side at the 12th fret and approximately 1.5 mm on the 1st string side.

Overall, while it cannot be called a "mint" condition—as it has sticker marks common to Custom models and shows typical signs of use—it is in good playing condition for its age. The neck has been properly adjusted, so please rest assured that it plays without any issues. This is a Custom Wine Red model, which is now rare on the market. We highly recommend this guitar to anyone looking for a model in this color from their birth year!
