[SN 73156] USED Gibson Custom Shop / Historic Collection 1957 Les Paul Standard Gold Top VOS Antique Gold [11]
[SN 73156] USED Gibson Custom Shop / Historic Collection 1957 Les Paul Standard Gold Top VOS Antique Gold [11]
The 2013 Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1957 Les Paul Standard Goldtop VOS. This is a reissue model of the so-called "R7" Goldtop specification.
The period around 2013 is known for significant revisions to Historic Collection specifications, incorporating many elements found in current reissue models. This generation featured updates to approximate vintage specifications, including Custombucker pickups, hide glue neck joint, tubular truss rod, and long studs.
It features the traditional body construction of a plain maple top and mahogany back, paired with a thicker 50s neck profile. The pickups are Custombuckers, developed to replicate PAFs, delivering an airy, vintage-like tone characteristic of the unpotted design. The solid construction without weight relief also preserves the characteristic thick, Les Paul-like resonance.
Weighing approximately 4.08kg, it falls within the standard, well-balanced range for an R7. This makes it a highly playable and practical instrument.
The jack plate has been replaced.
Beyond the VOS finish, there are visible scratches and dents from actual use, giving it a slightly stronger overall sense of wear. On the back, chips in the clear coat and paint cracks from impacts can be seen.
The neck shows no noticeable issues and is in good playing condition.
