[SN 7 4811] USED Gibson Custom Shop / Murphy Lab 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Reissue Bigsby Heavy Aged Double Gold / Dark Back [11]
Based on the so-called R7 (1957 Les Paul Reissue), this model features a Heavy Aged finish and a Bigsby tremolo unit. This configuration, not found in the standard lineup, adds a unique twist to its classic looks. While the Bigsby unit may be an original specification, the exact factory specifications are unknown.
The body features the classic mahogany and maple construction, ensuring a solid tone without weight relief. The vintage-like tone, centered on a thick, resilient midrange, is enhanced by the soft tension and subtle compression unique to the Bigsby, creating a distinctive playing feel.
The headstock features a "Lower Logo / Silk Screen" positioned slightly lower, offering specifications that will satisfy even the most discerning vintage enthusiasts.
Murphy Lab’s Heavy Aged finish realistically recreates deep weather checking, paint peeling, and the patina of metal parts, giving the guitar an air of having been played for years right from the start—a major appeal. In addition to the Double Gold finish, the dark back adds a striking contrast, giving it a presence that sets it apart from typical gold-top guitars.
The electronics are judged to be original. The pickups feature braided shielding wire and a PAF sticker on the back, confirming this is likely a genuine, factory-spec instrument.
This guitar combines collectible value with practicality, boasting specifications and a character distinct from the standard R7. Don’t miss this opportunity.
The groove position of the 5th-string saddle is slightly offset from the center, causing the string to lean toward the 6th string, but this does not appear to significantly affect playability.
Since this is a model that was originally finished with an aged look, it can be difficult to distinguish between scratches and signs of wear that have developed over time; however, overall, there is no damage that significantly detracts from its appearance.
There are no noticeable issues with the neck, and it is in excellent playing condition.
