[SN 016315] USED Aria Pro II / PE DELUXE-KV Black [11]

[SN 016315] USED Aria Pro II / PE DELUXE-KV Black [11]

A top-of-the-line model from Matsumoku’s final PE series, packed with features reminiscent of the late-80s hard rock/heavy metal scene.
Equipped with a Kahler tremolo system that enables smooth bending, this guitar combines the rich, full-bodied sound characteristic of the PE series with exceptional playability.

Even among the "PE" series—Aria Pro II’s signature original models—this "PE DELUXE-KV" was a high-end model featured in catalogs from around 1986–1987. With its three-dimensional body design featuring arched tops and backs, set-neck construction, and a highly playable design with a smooth finish extending all the way to the heel, it possesses a uniqueness that goes beyond a simple Les Paul-style guitar.

Its most notable feature is the inclusion of a Kahler Vibrato, known at the time as a high-end unit. It offers excellent tuning stability, smooth vibrato action, and low-action settings, making for a modern specification that is quintessentially 1980s.

The pickups bear a GOTOH stamp on the base plate. The wiring appears to be in its original condition, and based on the specifications in catalogs from that era, this is highly likely to be an original model equipped with “CLASSIC POWER IIIS” pickups. It produces a sound with rich midrange depth yet excellent clarity, and pairs exceptionally well with distortion.

This is a captivating instrument that showcases the meticulous craftsmanship characteristic of Matsumoku’s final production period, combined with the luxurious specifications typical of 1980s Japanese-made HR/HM guitars. Even among the Japan Vintage line, which has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, this is a high-end model from the PE series that exudes a unique presence.
There are numerous scratches, dents, tarnished metal, and areas of peeling plating, indicating some signs of wear.
The low frets on the 6th string side of the neck are reverse-bowed, with twisting and waviness. The frets have been leveled, and there are currently no issues with playability.
